Research Methods
The purpose of qualitative research in the form of in depth interviews is to gather an in-depth understanding of my participants’ decision to give up smoking and the reasons to be the part of this project. This approach goes in depth and the aim is to convey the understanding and to extenuate the context. The advantage of using qualitative research in this project is to gather knowledge of my participants’ different experience, expectations and attitude towards smoking.
The exploratory research is focus group in combination with participant observation, which can provide insight to more detailed issues for exploration, by gaining access to the environments which respondents are familiar with and selecting sites to study the subject in a more natural setting.
